When she went to work for John Kerry, he refused to take calls from Christianity Today. Which Church Are We Growing? Print E-mail

CNN.com reports that some Christian congregations are turning to Scientology for help. Two pastors, (one a Pentecostal and the other an African Methodist Episcopal), “explained…they still preach…Christianity…but in a modern world, borrowing from Scientology helps…they do not see Scientology as a threat to their faith, but rather as a tool to augment it.” No doubt, we find ourselves at, A Moment of Truth.

Almost 90% of Americans now believe there are legitimate alternatives to being part of a local church including worship at home, participating in a house church, watching a religious TV program, listening to religious radio, or engaging in community service. In the wake of Barna’s research, the church finds herself at, a moment of truth.

A recent survey showed that children feel pressured by society to own the latest designer clothes and computer games. As Christians are among those who supply that pressure we find ourselves at, a moment of truth.

For most evangelicals, when it comes to voting, the answer is clear: the Republican deemed most likely to win. Yet, there may be a new kind of revolution underway that threatens the cohesion of that bloc that made George W. Bush President. It seems that evangelicals have found themselves at, a moment of truth.

Faith and Science Agree for Those Who Can See Print E-mail

Widely respected scientist, Francis Collins, affirms his most recent book, “The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief,” by saying, “I am a scientist and a believer, and I find no conflict between those world views. As the director of the Human Genome Project, I have led a consortium of scientists to read out the 3.1 billion letters of the human genome, our own DNA instruction book. As a believer, I see DNA, the information molecule of all living things, as God's language, and the elegance and complexity of our own bodies and the rest of nature as a reflection of God's plan.”

The culture war is being brought to us. “A gay-rights group is moving toward a showdown with Bob Jones University. It's part of a civil rights-style road trip called the Soulforce Equality Ride, in which the group is visiting -- 32 schools they say don't allow gay & lesbian students to enroll.” Bob Jones, and indeed all of us, find ourselves at, a moment of truth.

When David fled from King Saul, he declared to Jonathan that there was but one step between himself and death (1 Sam. 20:3). He found himself at, a moment of truth. Sadly, there are many in our land in the same situation. But help is on the way.
