Now in Heaven Exalted High

On yesterday’s program, we began a discussion re: Defending the Deity of Christ. We looked at a number of various ways (like Attributes and Titles ascribed to Christ) to prove the doctrine of the Deity of Christ from the Scriptures.

On today’s program, we would like to continue that conversation by giving an easy outline for teaching or defending this doctrine.

There's a new book coming out this fall from Kregel Publications, entitled, Putting Jesus in His Place: The Case for the Deity of Christ, by Robert Bowman and Ed Komoszewski. In that book, the authors offer a simple acronym to help Christian present this important doctrine.

The word used in the acronym is the word HANDS. It is taken from the passage in John 20:27-28 where Thomas makes that great statement affirming the Deity of Christ after seeing the Hands of the Risen Savior.

The passage reads, Then saith he to Thomas, reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.”

The acrostic then shows the following:

Honor – Jesus shares the Honors due to God
Attributes – Jesus shares the Attributes ascribed to God
Names – Jesus shares the names of God
Deed – Jesus shares the deeds God does
Seat – Jesus shares the seat of God Throne

Specifically today we will be looking at the final point in the outline - how the Ascension and Present Session of Christ, can be used to Biblically establish the truth of the Deity of Christ.
