National Adoption Awareness Month

Our special guests on today’s “Calling For Truth” Radio Program, will include; Laura Godwin - Executive Director of Carolina Hope Christian Adoption Agency; Dan Cruver – Ministry Outreach Coordinator for Carolina Hope and Dr. Voddie Baucham – Conference Speaker, Adoptive Parent and Author of “Family-Driven Faith”.

During our conversation today we will consider some of the following adoption related topics:

  • Why do families seek adoption?
  • How should theology inform and enrich a family's decision to adopt?
  • What are families' options for adoption?
  • How have adoptions changed in the last 10 years?
  • What are the challenges facing families?
  • How does a family afford an adoption?
  • What can churches do to help families interested in adoption?
  • Who qualifies to adopt?
  • What should someone consider when they want to adopt? (e.g., age of child, race of child, expense, health issues)

On his blog (http://www.carolinahopeadoption.org/blog/), shortly after becoming the Outreach Coordinator, Dan Cruver wrote the following, “One of my deepest desires is that the doctrine of adoption would be recovered within the Christian church, that it would be valued, treasured and articulated by pastors (and their people) and theologians even as the doctrine of justification is. Progress is being made, but there is much more needed—not only in its recovery but also in its proper understanding. It is a doctrine that makes known the great glory of God’s grace (see Ephesians 1:5-6). If you desire to marvel at the precious grace of God more deeply, explore Scripture’s teaching on adoption. My prayer is that the church would come to a fresh understanding of this highest blessing of the gospel and, as a result, come to treasure our Triune God more. This is one of the reasons I am thrilled that Carolina Hope Christian Adoption Agency has commissioned me to study and articulate the precious, life-transforming doctrine of adoption.”
