Together for Adoption

On today’s “Calling For Truth” radio program we will have a number of special guest in the studio with us.

The event that brought all of these guests together is a Caedmon’s Call concert to benefit Carolina Hope Christian Adoption Agency and their “Ethiopian Project”. The concert is scheduled for tonight (Friday, February 29, 2008) at Southside Fellowship in Greenville SC. at 7:00pm. (For ticket information see www.carolinahopeadoption.org/chconcert.htm)

The in-studio guest associated with the concert and adoption project include:

Dan Cruver – Ministry Outreach Coordinator for Carolina Hope Christian Adoption Agency (see www.CarolinaHopeAdoption.org)

Derek Webb - Singer, Songwriter, he has recently re-joined Caedmon’s Call (see www.derekwebb.com)

Cliff Young – Founding member and vocalist for Caedmon’s Call (see www.caedmonscall.com)

Wesson – An Ethiopian Adoption Facilitator working closely with Carolina Hope

James 1:27 states, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

During the program today, we will discuss the subject of Adoption from a theological perspective as well as a physical perspective. Dan Cruver’s passion is to encourage the church to carefully consider the connection between those two perspectives. Dan often speaks about how the theology of adoption (an act of God’s free grace whereby believers are received into the number of, and have a right to all the privileges of, the Sons of God) should fuel the compassion of the church in reaching out to orphans around the world.

Wesson, will help us understand the plight of the Ethiopian children and the process of adoption from his unique perspective.

We will also ask Derek and Cliff to articulate the thinking behind Caedmon’s Call’s latest album, “Overdressed”, their views about the importance of theology and how that has impacted their interest in pursuing social justice for Ethiopia’s fatherless.
