One of the most important issues from a worldview perspective is the issue of origins. The debate swirling around Creation, Intelligent Design, and Evolution rages in the media, coffee shops, and indeed the hearts of men and women. The issue is not a secondary one in that it goes to the heart of the gospel when one understands the implications behind the biblical account of creation vs. evolutionary theory.

Moreover, each position is arrived at by faith, something the evolutionists would want us to ignore. The truth is that no one was around to see the formation of the universe. Christians and evolutionists have faith commitments in these areas. Further, one’s faith commitment, or presuppositions about these things, or worldview, colors how one interprets biological or geological evidence in regard to origins or age of the earth, etc. And yet, the biblical account is supported by the evidence in our world without any real dilemmas or problems. The evolutionist cannot say the same. He must live with a great number of contradictions.

On today’s edition of “Calling for Truth,” we’ll talk about these questions and more. Why is the issue of origins so critical and why does it affect the gospel and the reality of Christ? Why is the Intelligent Design movement helpful but not helpful enough?

Our special guest will be renowned speaker Dr. Mark Harwood. Mark has played a key role in the development of Australia’s national satellite system since its inception in 1980. Mark’s initial responsibilities were the design of the antenna and communications payload systems on board Australia’s first generation satellites. From 1982 to 1984, he worked in the USA on the design and construction of the spacecraft which were launched in 1985 and 1987.

The second-generation satellites pioneered domestic mobile satellite services, with Australia being the first country in the world to introduce such services. Mark was again responsible for the design of the communications system on board the spacecraft. His innovative antenna designs for the satellites, launched in 1992 and 1994, made possible the transmission via satellite of digital television direct to homes in Australia.
